[The community project that supports orphans and Widows]

BACKGROUND INFORMATION.

Profile: initiated in January 2007 and registered in October 13th 2008; the humble two years old A.V.E.C’s only on going project – typifies a focused non-formal urban – slum school.

TARGET ZONE AND STRATEGY:

Strategically, institution is a community based and given the fact that the project’s target zone predominantly populated by the urban poor, only the HARAMBEE spirit has the potential to realize the objective within the urban – slum set-up and particularly so when organizing men and women who have no gainful income or have been marginalized by poverty attribute to employment and exacerbate by the galloping inflation that is hitting the development nations harder.

FOCUS GROUP

Alliance vision educational center base its targets on the destitute urban slum children and growing number of H.I.V/A.I.D’S orphans and Widows.

CLASSIFICATION AND GROWTH OR INTAKE:

The school has been registered with the department of social service, under the ministry of gender, sports, cultural and social services as non- formal four leveled institution. Currently A.V.E.C is being accommodated in rented premises. The school has enrolled hundred and forty six (200) pupils in total of this in gender break down intake, one hundred and ten(110) are girls and ninety are boys (90). Indeed the number of pupils enrolled in the school has registered a dramatic growth over the year. Today A.V.E.C provide all level primary school starting from pre- school to class 6. and considering the fact that it all started in a squared make shift kiosk in the same Dandora location, what has emerged is a tangible proof that much has been achieved so far. Those in charge of the project’s management and the area’s community have commendably done a considerable job

ADDITIONAL IN PUT AND FUND.

Among other key players, includes five(5) board members, three (3) cooks and eight (8) teaching staff whose noble objective is good Samaritan in fact, the staff together with the board members is content with token remuneration purely out of good will and charity.All the teachers are young men and women who have no gainful income despite the stated, and in good faith, the staffers are preoccupied with charity work. The vision is to provide quality education by creating all – level primary learning opportunities for the target – child who can not otherwise afford the cost of accessing same elsewhere. Nevertheless the school is yet to be full – fledged and involve in into its integrated concept. A complete learning institution with primary, secondary and vocational/ tertiary college. To achieve the goal, there is need to build a solid fund.
